How women can overcome pressure linked to age

As I was scrolling through Instagram the other day, and someone’s caption caught my attention. It read something like this if I remember correctly. That everyone is getting married, having kids and so on. While perhaps, someone else feels like their life sucks and achieved nothing. One reason why this struck me is that, long before I met Axel, I went through this experience. I call it the “life crisis” phase.

I mean, at that time, and looking around, my friends had what I thought was an ideal life. Career, husbands and good life because that is how I judged it. And, everything seemed to be working just as fine for them. On the other hand, I had zero friends after moving countries and spend a couple years with no boyfriend. The only thing that kept me busy was school and work. If you asked me at that time, I would quickly have told you that my life sucked. It was in the summer of 2013 where I locked myself in my tiny apartment from the outside world. Weeping constantly for days, I questioned myself several times… Why don’t I have a life like theirs? What am I doing wrong?

You and I can both agree that we women tend to compare ourselves. We look at what others have accomplished or how they live their lives and compare our own accomplished and lifestyle. It was the case when I broke down in 2013 as I mentioned above. I got so much pressure because everyone at my age seemed to have their shit put all together, while I felt miserable for myself. I could have used those three weeks on something meaningful. Perhaps, set some new goals and looks for ways on how to achieve them.

My advice

If there is one advice I could share with other women, is that it is okay not to have it all figured out. A friend used to tell me “Michelle, time will change.” I did not know what it meant, but now I do. You will not be stuck in that same situation for a long time. And change can only happen when you take actions. This life is a journey that consists of trials, failures, and choices that help us learn and shape us to be better. And though, I think that social media is an excellent place to draw inspiration, I also think it is a terrific place where everything is filtered, and we get to see ” the perfect life” Thus, increasing our misconception of other people’s life.

Another advice would be, live your life like no one’s business. I mean concentrate on your path, and don’t give a damn of what the world thinks of you. It is easy to say though, but a little practice on building oneself will be a step forward to making changes and finding ways to deal with age-related pressure. And lastly, you may not have everything at your age, but keep in mind, age is just numbers. Don’t give up on your dreams!

If you are you dealing with pressure linked to age, know that you not alone. I, myself, I have been there, and I battled it. And, so can you!

Have a nice time till we speak soon on another post. Thank you for reading this post!

Ahh, goodness!! This comment made me so happy. Thank you son much. Things will always improve only if you focus on yourself instead of using your energy on feeling pressure because someone else seem to have a better life than you do 😍
