Revealing my 7 month​ secret

I am so thrilled to reveal my 7 month secret with you. For the last two years, Axel and I have discussed several times that we wanted to have kids. We planned to have our first kid before I finish my education next year in summer.  I felt that I would be more flexible with my school schedule and project writing while being a mom.

It was in mid-June last year when I had my last contraception pill. A few days later, I traveled to Kenya. Axel joined me with his family after three weeks. And on the 17th of July, it all happened. I got PREGNANT, but I did not know it yet. Two days later, my mom asked me “Michelle, are you pregnant?” I was pissed that she asked me and I don’t know why exactly I reacted that way. My defense was that I stopped my pills, and I was 100 percent sure that I was not pregnant

I have been on contraceptive pills since I met Axel six years ago. And, according to what, I have been reading online, I was sure that it would take months before my hormones were entirely back to normal, and could conceive. But, I was wrong. When I missed my period with a day, I bought two pregnancy kits and did a test. Unfortunately, I could not immediately tell if I was positive or not, as one of the lines was unclear. To make sure I was not misinterpreting things, I called my doctor. I had a new test and the result showed positive… I was PREGNANT!!! And, my mom was right 😃.

Our initial plan was to share the big news on our wedding day and during my speech. But, we realized that it was perhaps, too much for such a day. Instead, we chose to share our joy with only our family. I was excited that we were soon going to be parents. But, I can’t deny that I was scared at the same time. What if…? What if this or that happens? And because of this fear, I decided to hold on to our secret between our family and us. I am now 34 weeks + 3 days today, and in my third trimester.

New Chapter

Parenthood is all new to both of us, and I can’t wrap my head to what motherhood will look like. But, I do know for sure that my whole being is grateful more than I could ever be for this little human being growing in my belly, and will be here with us in a few weeks.  My due date is on the 9th of April.
